Welcome!

Welcome, Fellow Traveller! New Age Nuggets is a blog intended to be an internet resource for lightworkers of all spiritual orientations, so that all spiritual seekers can find information to help them on their spiritual path. Journeys through this fronteirland of New Age metaphysics, spiritualism, and even magic, strike me as akin to the Gold Rush of 19th Century America; the promise of new riches, either material or spiritual, draws intrepid souls to the “wild west” to seek their fortune. Once there, however, it becomes apparent to explorers in these territories that patience is required to unearth this physical or spiritual “gold”; these riches come in the form of small “nuggets” that must be sifted out from the surrounding sediment. Each spiritual seeker in the New Age must sift through a flood of information to find those “nuggets” which will help on the journey, and set aside everything that is not intended by the soul for its growth.

I have been on this journey for 15 years plus, and have done a fair amount of sifting myself. New Age Nuggets will share my experiences in exploring, searching, and sifting, passing on my ‘aha’ moments when I have found the rare nugget that has had lasting value in my life. Hopefully this will be a worthwhile contribution to existing conversations around these subjects, and, more importantly, I hope it starts new conversations and inspires new lightworkers to begin their journeys of awakening. The sifting never stops. I continue to search for new nuggets, and will continue to document my journey, whether this means sharing from the books I am reading, writing about a new meditation or ritual practice I am investigating, or sharing reflections on life or popular culture and current events from a metaphysical perspective.

I feel there is a need for a blog like this one, because today there are more individuals, old and young, seeking to answer certain questions to which mainstream public discourse has not provided satisfactory answers. A Pew Research Center report released in August 2018 reported that roughly a third of all Americans hold some beliefs that would be characterized as “New Age”, such as a belief in psychics, astrology, reincarnation, and spiritual energy being held in physical objects (ex. Crystals) or places. Most illuminating is the finding that 11% of the people surveyed were religious, but also held some new age beliefs! This is on top of the 27% who fell into the new age, spiritual but not religious categories[1]. Clearly, people are searching for new answers in a troubled and troubling world, but most importantly there is no one “type” of person who looks for these answers; people in religious congregations and those disillusioned who long ago left the fold but still long for spiritual connection, are all exploring.

In this search I believe it is valuable to have conversations with others who are on a similar journey—even if no two people are looking for the same thing. In my journey, hearing from somebody else who is on an alternative spiritual path, or even just investigating isolated phenomena, was always a source of reassurance and helped put my own journey in a broader perspective. Even if the person has a viewpoint different from my own, hearing their thoughts and experiences in searching for their truth relieves the sense of isolation, and often sparks inspiration for a new avenue of exploration. Hopefully I can accomplish this for others who read this blog. Happy journeying, fellow traveller!

Walk in Light,
